Battle of the Kasis – Mams vs Alex vs Sotra

Last year it was a showdown between two of the biggest townships in Johannesburg. And no, not big in terms of size or population (although Soweto certainly qualifies) but in terms of culture, history, and importance. This was the second edition of the BOTK and Soweto ran out the ultimate winners in Alexandra in what was a very successful tournament. This year however we brought in another one of South Africa’s most beloved townships, Mamelodi. I believe it was Lady Zamar in 2015 who penned a hit track loudly celebrating her love for this very township sitting in the heart of our Capital City.

For the first time in the history of the sport, participants and Ludo enthusiasts from Pretoria and Johannesburg will gather in Soweto on the 28th of May 2022 to prove once and for all that which amongst the three townships has the best Ludo players.

Battle of the Kasis

The purpose of this tournament is to continue from where we left off in 2016. The legacy of the first battle of the Kasis is still visible in the streets, schools, and even correctional facilities today. There are more participants from different backgrounds waiting in anticipation for the next BOTK tournament. The success of the previous tournament held in both Alexandra and Soweto exceeded and increased expectations.
